Walmart Lowers Price of Walmart+ for Households that Receive Food Stamps or Government Aid

Walmart Lowers Price of Walmart+ for Households that Receive Food Stamps or Government Aid

Walmart is offering households that receive food stamps or other government aid a discounted price for the company’s subscription service, Walmart+.

The deal started on July 20 and eligible customers now have the option to pay $49 for the year or $6.47 per month, half the price of an original Walmart+ subscription.

According to CNBC, this price drop could help Walmart pull in more shoppers that have not been able to afford the subscription service at full price.

Walmart+ was launched in 2020 and gives members free shipping on online orders, fuel discounts, access to Paramount+, and unlimited deliveries of online orders of $35 or more from the store straight to their doorstep.

In addition to lowering the price of Walmart+ for low-income houses, the company is also making changes online. Walmart now accepts Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) online in all 50 states. Customers with SNAP benefit cards can add it to Walmart’s app or website.

Walmart+ is reportedly gaining traction, but still lags behind Amazon Prime which also offers a discounted price for low-income households. Additionally, Prime accepts SNAP in every state except Alaska.
