Walgreens Redesigns Store in Chicago with Only Two Aisles

Walgreens Redesigns Store in Chicago with Only Two Aisles

A Walgreens in a downtown Chicago neighborhood was redesigned in a very drastic way.

The store now has only two aisles and most merchandise is kept out of sight. Although experts say this shift in the design of the store is to deter theft, Walgreems disagrees. The store claims that the location was remodeled in order to benefit customers.

This Walgreens location is one of its kind and something the retailer considers an experiment. Walgreens told CNN that it is testing out a new concept of convenience and focusing on digital shopping.

So what products can you find in those two aisles? According to CNN, there are “over-the-counter medication, bath and body care supplies, batteries, Band-aids, and grab-and-go snacks.”

As for the other items not displayed, like beer, wine, gift cards, and hair color products, can be accessed through a kiosk set up in the store.
