The Laundress Recalls about Eight Million Products Over Bacteria Risk

The Laundress Recalls about Eight Million Products Over Bacteria Risk

The Laundress has issued a recall for roughly 8 million units of its laundry and household cleaners due to the possible presence of harmful bacteria.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), “The recalled products can contain bacteria, including Burkholderia cepacia complex, Klebsiella aerogenes and multiple different species of Pseudomonas, many of which are environmental organisms found widely in soil and water, and some may also be found in humans.”

This bacteria can be especially harmful to “people with weakened immune systems, external medical devices, and underlying lung conditions,” according to the CPSC. The bacteria can enter through breaks in the skin, the eyes or can be inhaled.

The CPSC has reported at least 11 cases of Pseudomonas infections in consumers. The company is investigating whether these illnesses were associated with the product recall.

Some of the recalled products include The Laundress’:

    • Signature Detergent
    • Fabric Conditioner
    • Dish Detergent
    • All-Purpose Cleaning concentrate
    • Glass & Mirror Cleaner

The cleaning product company is urging all consumers with recalled products to request a refund then dispose of the product in the trash without emptying the contents.
