The Bud Light Boycott: Explained

The Bud Light Boycott: Explained

Many people are talking about Bud Light and have opinions on its latest sweepstakes challenge in which the company partnered with Dyaln Mulvaney.

Mulvaney, a transgender woman and influencer, along with others were sent cans of beer. She then posted a video of herself dressed like Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany’s celebrating March Madness and her first year of “womanhood,” Vox reported.

This angered many people including some celebrities who were not shy about sharing their feelings. In a viral video, Kid Rock was seen shooting a stack of Bud Light cans displaying his disapproval for the beer company. Country music singer, Travis Tritt, is also boycotting all drinks made by Bud Light’s parent company, Anheuser-Busch, stating, “I will be deleting all Anheuser-Busch products from my tour hospitality rider. I know many other artists who are doing the same.”

Although Bud Light is facing some heat right now, according to Vox, boycotts are not always effective in terms of hurting sales. Anheuser-Busch has tons of other brands and the stock price has reportedly not really moved.
