Landlord of Twitter HQ Sues Elon Musk, Alleging He Owes Millions in Rent

Elon Musk has taken his plans to cut costs at Twitter too far.

The landlord of the Twitter headquarters in San Francisco filed a lawsuit this month accusing Twitter of “shirking its rent payments over the last two months, amounting to roughly $3.4 million in each December and January,” Yahoo News reported.

According to the lawsuit, SRI Nine Market Square LLC, the building’s owner, claims it has been able to recover some funds from Twitter’s letter of credit but is still waiting on Twitter to pay $3.2 million this month.

Earlier this month, the landlord of Twitter’s Hartford Building located at 650 California Street filed a lawsuit seeking $136,260 in unpaid rent from the social media company, per Yahoo News.

Since officially taking over the company in October, Musk has made several efforts to reduce costs. This includes laying off thousands of employees and reducing the headquarters office space from eight floors to two, according to Fox Business.
