Is AI Going to Take Over the Food Industry?

Is AI Going to Take Over the Food Industry?

A wave of pilot programs have begun in the food industry for restaurants to test out artificial intelligence technology. Here’s a few restaurants that are hopping on the bandwagon.

Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s parent company CKE announced that it was aiming to launch partnerships with Preso and OpenCity AI to integrate artificial intelligence technology nationwide.

According to CNBC, McDonald’s entered a strategic partnership with IBM in 2021 to help bring AI technology to drive-thru lanes. McDonald’s has tested the technology at certain restaurant locations.

Del Taco is reportedly using voice-activated AI for orders made in its drive-thru and Wingstop is using it for orders placed by phone.

Panera has tested out AI technology in the drive thru and the kitchen. The chain has partnered with OpenCity AI to implement voice ordering and with Miso Robotics to create automated coffee brewing.
