Ford Invests $700 Million in Louisville Plant and Creates 500 New Jobs

Ford Invests $700 Million in Louisville Plant and Creates 500 New Jobs

Kentucky Governor, Andy Beshear, and Ford officials announced on Tuesday that Ford will invest $700 million and create 500 new jobs at the Louisville manufacturing plant. This decision was made to support the production of its Super Duty Truck line.

The Super Duty truck has been successfully produced since 1998. Currently, in its fourth generation, this upcoming design will be the first all-new Super Duty model since 2017.

Ford’s Kentucky Truck Plant location has reached its expansion limits, according to Courier Journal, and the $700 million investment “will aid in maximizing current capabilities and adding new machinery to enhance production within the facility.”

The Louisville plant currently employs 9,000 employees and supports 120,000 jobs across the state of Kentucky. Additionally, according to Louisville Mayor, Greg Fisher, Ford has invested nearly $4 billion into the city of Louisville over the last decade.

Tuesday’s big announcement which included a 700$ million investment and the creation of 500 new jobs marks the seventh largest economic development announcement in the history of Louisville.
