Delta is Making it Harder to Access its Sky Lounges in 2023

Delta is Making it Harder to Access its Sky Lounges in 2023

Starting next year, Delta will increase the prices and requirements to access its Sky Lounges. Now, travelers might have a harder time escaping all the stresses that come along with being in an airport.

Delta decided to crack down on who has access to the Sky Lounges after receiving criticism from travelers for overcrowding and long lines at some of the lounge locations. According to CNBC, entrants to the lounges have increased “through credit card deals, customers’ travel habits and lounge memberships.”

Delta’s senior vice president of customer engagement and loyalty, Dwight James, explained that the purpose of the Sky Lounges is so customers can avoid the stress of long lines and crowds in the airport. “We have to evolve,” he told CNBC

Currently, anyone can purchase a membership package for Delta’s lounges, but starting next year, memberships will only be available for Diamond, Platinum, Gold and Silver members to purchase.

Also, according to Delta’s update, annual Club membership fees will increase starting on Jan. 1, 2023. The individual membership fee will increase from $545 or 54,500 miles to $695 or 69,500 miles and the executive membership fee will increase from $845 or 84,500 miles to $1495 or 149,500 miles.
