Chipotle Plans to Raise Menu Prices Yet Again

Chipotle Plans to Raise Menu Prices Yet Again

Chipotle has been able to hold off on raising menu prices for over a year. However, all good things must come to an end and inflation has eventually caught up to the restaurant chain.

In a statement to CNBC, Chipotle Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Laurie Schalow said, “For the first time in over a year, we will be taking a modest price increase to offset inflation.”

Chipotle started raising prices back in June of 2021. Prices were raised again during the first three months of 2022 and again in July of that year. However, since then, Chipotle has been able to hold off on raising prices further as consumers were forced to become more cost-conscious.

In April, according to CNBC, ingredient prices stabilized and the company decided to hold off on raising prices any further. However, at that point “its prices were up roughly 10% compared to the year-ago period.”

The amount that menu prices will rise has not been disclosed yet.
