According to NIQ data given to consulting firm Bump Williams, for four weeks ending on June 3, Bud Light sales fell 24.4% while Modelo’s grew 12.2.%. Modelo was responsible for 8.4% of US retail beer sales topping Bud Light’s 7.3%.
And, Williams also pointed out that the beer trend appears to be in Modelo’s favor. He claimed that Modelo sales grow each week as we get deeper into the summer and people have been switching their beer preference over to Mexican beers and spirits.
Although Bud Light is in the second place position of top-selling beers on a monthly basis, it still remains the top-selling beer on a year-to-date basis, per CNN.
