‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ Becomes Seventh Highest-Grossing Film of All Time

‘Avatar: The Way of Water,’ the sequel to the original ‘Avatar’, which is the highest-grossing movie in film history, has big shoes to fill. So far, the movie is living up to the expectations.

‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ has dominated the box office for the fourth weekend in a row. According to Fox Business, the global box office earnings have reached just over $1.7 billion, earning the spot of seventh highest-grossing picture of all time.

The success of ‘Avatar 2’ has helped Disney earn the place of highest earner at the box office for the seventh year in a row, Fox Business reported.

And that is not all. ‘Avatar’ writer and director, James Cameron, has previously confirmed that ‘Avatar 3’ would hit theaters in a year or so. ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ and ‘Avatar 3’ were filmed simultaneously.

Cameron also claimed in an interview on “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?” that ‘Avatar 4’ and ‘5’ are also in the making. “‘Avatar 4’ and ‘5’ are both written. We even have some of ‘4’ in the can. We’ve begun a franchise at this point. We’ve begun a saga that can now play out over multiple films.”
