Amazon Introduces New Virtual Health Service, ‘Amazon Clinic’

Amazon Introduces New Virtual Health Service, ‘Amazon Clinic’

Amazon announced on Tuesday that it is expanding its healthcare offerings and introduced Amazon Clinic.

“Amazon Clinic will operate in 32 states and provide virtual care for more than 20 common health conditions, such as allergies, acne, and hair loss,” according to Amazon’s website

Amazon Clinic was created for “quick interactions with a clinician for a common health concern that can be easily addressed virtually,” Amazon claims.

Amazon broke down how to get started with the new health service on its website. Customers will select their condition and then will have the option to choose their preferred provider from a list of licensed and qualified telehealth providers. Customers will then be able to chat with their clinicians through a “secure message-based portal” promoting flexibility and convenience.

If customers have a health problem that cannot be solved by the clinicians at Amazon Clinic, they will be told upfront before being connected to a provider.

According to CNBC, Amazon Clinic “does not yet accept insurance, but customers can use insurance to help pay for medications prescribed by a licensed clinician through the platform.”
