Air Travel Problems are Expected to Continue

Air Travel Problems are Expected to Continue

Air travel passengers are going to need to pack a lot of patience this summer and the rest of the year. Industry experts are predicting the solution to flight delays and cancellations is nowhere in sight.

The airline industry has faced many problems recently and some of this is due to air traffic controller staffing issues. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said it is working to fix the staffing issues across the country and, according to Fox Business, has even asked carriers to cut down on their summer flight schedules to ease the problems.

Major hubs like Newark, LaGuardia and John F. Kennedy airports are specifically being hit hard by the shortages. Clint Henerson, managing editor of travel website The Points Guy explained to Fox Business “When things start to go wrong, there’s not enough staff to help the airlines sort it out.”

Henderson acknowledged the FAA’s efforts of trying to hire and train more air traffic controllers, but he said it is a slow process and the problems can not be fixed overnight.

Travelers are encouraged to be prepared for delays or cancellations, obtain travel insurance and book flights directly through the airlines to make the process a little bit easier.
