37 Million Customers Hacked in T-Mobile Data Breach

T-Mobile announced last week that 37 million current customers are victims of a data breach that started on November 25 and was discovered on January 5, 2023.

CNN reported, “the hacker stole customer data that included names, billing addresses, emails, phone numbers, dates of birth, T-Mobile account numbers and information describing the kind of service they have with the wireless carrier. T-Mobile said no social security numbers, credit card information, government ID numbers, passwords, PINs or financial information were exposed in the hack.”

T-Mobile stated the company is working with law enforcement and customers have been notified if their information has been breached.

“We understand that an incident like this has an impact on our customers and regret that this occurred,” T-Mobile said in a statement. “While we, like any other company, are unfortunately not immune to this type of criminal activity, we plan to continue to make substantial, multi-year investments in strengthening our cybersecurity program.”
