Wendy’s is introducing a new way for customers to get their food. The fast food chain announced a new partnership with Pipedream.
Pipedream is the creator of an “underground autonomous robot system that can be used to deliver digital food orders from the kitchen to parking spaces within seconds,” Fox Business reported.
“Pipedream’s Instant Pickup system has the potential to unlock greater mobile order speed of service and accuracy, enabling us to consistently deliver hot and fresh Wendy’s products to our fans,” said Wedny’s Company U.S. Chief Operations Officer, Deepak Ajmani.
Wendy’s said it plans to start using the fully electric underground system at an existing restaurant later this year. Customers will be able to pull into a parking space next to the new system and speak to an employee through a speaker to declare their identity. The food will then be delivered to the portal and the customer can take it without even stepping foot out of their vehicle.
The first location to implement the robots is still unclear but it’s possible it might be along the East Coast where the amount of digital orders is the highest, per DailyMail.
