Walmart shoppers will soon experience more in-store advertising. This includes ads on the screens in self-checkout lanes, announcements over the store’s radio and product sample stations.
Walmart is reportedly increasing its in-store ad space as another way to capitalize on the company’s huge reach. According to CNBC, “The discounter has nearly 4,700 stores across the U.S., with roughly 90% of Americans living within 10 miles of a Walmart store.”
An interesting element that Walmart is offering to advertisers is the demo stations where customers will be able to sample the product for free. Walmart also plans to bundle the stations with other ad formats that can run at the same time, per CNBC.
Walmart is following the lead of many other retailers that are increasing in-store advertising. Kroger reportedly has plans to bring digital smart screens to aisles in hundreds of its store locations. Also, Target has been testing in-store demos and offering giveaways.
