Walmart Asks Employees to Come Back into the Office and Possibly Relocate
Walmart is following suit with other major companies and is asking employees to come back to the office after the nation relied on remote work during the pandemic.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Walmart Chief Technology Officer, Suresh Kumar, said that Walmart will be asking its technology employees to work in person at least two days a week.
Additionally, a Walmart Spokesperson told FOX Business that its global tech teams will no longer operate out of Austin, Texas; Carlsbad, California; and Portland, Oregon. The retailer has hopes of relocating or allowing remote work for employees affected by the location closures.
“Our decision to be together more frequently anchors to Walmart’s fundamental belief that our people make the difference, our culture matters and we build stronger partnerships when we are physically together,” the spokesperson told FOX Business.
On the other hand, The Wall Street Journal, the first to report the news, claims hundreds of employees from the closed locations will be forced to relocate in order to keep their jobs. Walmart has reportedly not set a timeline to relocate yet.
