On Monday, many Twitter users experienced complications with viewing photos and clicking links while the app was even inaccessible for some. According to CNN, this is “one of the most wide-ranging service disruptions to date under new owner Elon Musk.”
Images and links reportedly gave users an error message when they tried to click on it. Business Insider put the issue to the test and also received an error code. The message read, “Your current API plan does not include access to this endpoint, please see https://developer.twitter.com/en/docs/twitter-api for more information.”
The Twitter Support account acknowledged the outage in a tweet, “Some parts of Twitter may not be working as expected right now. We made an internal change that had some unintended consequences. We’re working on this now and will share an update when it’s fixed.”
Twitter Support gave an additional update about an hour later declaring, “Things should now be working as normal. Thanks for sticking with us!”
Monday’s issues are not the first time Twitter has had technical difficulties under Musk’s leadership. CNN reported that previously, users encountered problems with the app’s two-factor authentication tool, the location of a reply to a tweet and the placement of old tweets in their timeline.
