Taylor Swift Ticket Fiasco Leads to a Ticketmaster Investigation

Ticket sale website, Ticketmaster, is under investigation due to the many issues presented when Taylor Swift fans tried to buy tickets on Tuesday for her “Eras” tour. 

An unbelievable amount of Taylor Swift fans flocked to the website with anticipation to purchase tickets during the pre-sale period, only to be met with the site freezing and crashing. 

These issues led Tennessee Attorney General, Jonathan Skrmettian, to launch an investigation to make sure no laws were violated by Ticketmaster. The Attorney General’s office said in a tweet, “Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti is concerned about consumer complaints related to @Ticketmaster’s pre-sale of @taylorswift13 concert tickets. He and his Consumer Protection team will use every available tool to ensure that no consumer protection laws were violated.”

Although Tuesday’s ticket sales managed to break a record of more than 2 million, thousands of fans still did not manage to purchase a ticket, according to CNN. 

Many upset fans took to Twitter to air their grievances. One user joked, “i would like taylor swift herself to try to get tickets to her own show.”

Another fan wrote, “I dont know if you are aware, but a lot of loyal fans got screwed over trying to buy tickets yesterday. So many fans didn’t have the chance to buy even one ticket after waiting in line for literal hours. Yet, so many scalpers are reselling now for thousands of $”

On top of it all, Ticketmaster delivered worse news to Taylor Swift fans on Thursday announcing that the public ticket sale set for Nov. 18 was canceled. Ticketmaster tweeted, “Due to extraordinarily high demands on ticketing systems and insufficient remaining ticket inventory to meet that demand, tomorrow’s public on-sale for Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour has been canceled.”
