On Wednesday, Bed Bath & Beyond announced that interim CEO, Sue Gove, would take on the position permanently.
The company named Gove interim CEO in June after Mark Tritton, former CEO, made his exit. According to Bed Bath & Beyond’s website, “Gove has been an Independent Director of Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. since May 2019. Throughout her tenure, Sue served two years as a member of the Audit Committee and three years as a member of the Nominating and Corporate Governance committee. In March, she was named Chair of the Board’s Strategy Committee.”
Gove also worked previously as the Chief Executive Officer of Golfsmith International Holdings and the Chief Operating Officer of Zale Corporation.
Gove has her work cut out for her as it was previously reported by Yahoo News that Bed Bath & Beyond planned to close around 150 stores and cut nearly 20% of corporate supply-chain staff.
The company’s stock has declined about 64% this year as well, per CNBC.
