Stores are Rebounding but Millennials Plan to Stick with Online Shopping, Survey Says

According to a survey from ESW, the world’s leading global direct-to-consumer ecommerce company, millennial shoppers prefer online shopping instead of visiting stores in person.

The survey revealed that more than 27% of millennial shoppers say they will spend significantly more money online and less in-store this year. The survey depicts results across various categories including health and beauty, luxury, apparel and footwear and consumer electronics.

“While early pandemic saw an unprecedented online shopping boom, in-person shopping has been ready for a resurgence, as eager shoppers return to newly reopened brick-and-mortar stores,” CNBC reported. However, it does not look like millennials, individuals between the ages of 25 and 40, will be among those returning to the stores. Only 15% of millennial surrey participants said they planned to spend less while online shopping this year.

Something also to note is, the survey reveals millennials plan to increase their online spending across several different categories including healthy and beauty and luxury products compared to the Gen Z, Gen X and baby boomer generations.
