Snapchat Introduces AI Chatbot to All Users
Snapchat is now allowing all users access to the AI chatbot that only its paid subscribers have been able to use.
Chapchat’s customizable AI chatbot offers “recommendations, answers questions, helps users make plans and can write a haiku in seconds, according to the company. It can be brought into conversation with friends when it’s mentioned with “@MyAI.” Users can also give it a name and design a custom Bitmoji avatar for it to personalize it more,” CNN reported.
According to the company, the AI chatbot was intended to give users another way to engage with one another while hopping on the ChatGPT train. Many other businesses have taken advantage of ChatGPT after its creator, OpenAI, made it public at the end of last year.
Upon its release, users were amazed at the way ChatGPT was able to produce original content in response to user prompts. However, according to TechCrunch, there have been some hiccups. The chatbot reportedly made suggestions on how to mask the smell of alcohol and pot at a birthday party to a user who said they were aged 15 as well as other inappropriate responses to users also stating they were teenagers.
Snapchat responded to these claims stating that users had been trying to trick the chatbot and also introduced new tools to help keep responses age-appropriate as well as updates to the Family Center to keep parents and guardians informed.
