Starbucks announced the expansion of its deal with DoorDash on Tuesday. Now, customers in Northern California, Texas, Georgia, Florida and more will be able to receive their coffee orders via DoorDash.
Starbucks had previously tested out delivery through DoorDash last year in Atlanta, Houston, Sacramento, Seattle, Portland and New York City.
Starbucks said it would be expanding its DoorDash delivery locations in the coming weeks with the goal of delivering to all 50 states by March.
The coffee giant decided to expand its deal with DoorDash after massive delivery growth “year over year,” according to Yahoo News. Chief Marketing Officer, Brady Brewer, claimed people were spending twice as much money on delivery orders compared to in-store purchases.
U.S. fast-food delivery demand skyrocketed during the pandemic, but according to Yahoo News, that growth is tapering. Inflation and menu price increases may make some cost-conscious consumers skip the delivery fee. However, “Starbucks says its customers – who tend to be wealthier and have continued buying fancy customized beverages despite higher prices – want more drinks and snacks brought right to them,” per Yahoo News.
