Facebook’s parent company has reportedly stopped offering remote work in new job listings amid reorganization and employee layoffs.
Fox Business reported that people familiar with the situation claim hiring managers have been told they can no longer list the job location as outside an existing office or remote.
However, this change is only temporary, according to a spokesperson for Meta. They told Fox Business, “”We remain committed to remote work. We’ve merely temporarily paused new remote work applications as leaders complete the restructuring work that Mark [Zuckerberg] announced earlier this month.”
This news comes as other technology companies, including Apple, have cracked down on regulations and return-to-office orders. Meta has reportedly taken away a $1,100 stipend for employees to aid remote work as well as a Lyft stipend. Although, the company has not removed the $900 a year or $75 per month allowance for home internet provided to employees.
