It happened — first day in the books! Stay Tuned…” Linda Yaccarino, Twitter’s new Chief Executive Officer, announced after her first day.
On Monday, Yaccarino, a former NBCUniversal marketing executive, took over twitter as the CEO, several weeks after Elon Musk announced he would be hiring her.
For months, Musk has been toying with the idea of finding a new leader for the social media platform. In December, Musk asked twitter users in a poll if he should step down as the company’s CEO, and according to CNN, the majority of users voted yes.
Yaccarino will reportedly be focusing on business operations. This comes at a time when Twitter’s advertising revenue is struggling. According to data from market intelligence firm, Sensor Tower, provided to CNN, “Just 43% of Twitter’s top 1,000 advertisers as of September, the month before Musk’s takeover, were still advertising on the platform as of April.”
Many advertisers have left the platform due to concerns over Musk’s regulation of hate speech as well as overall uncertainty over the future of the company.
