Americans have dealt with the stress of climbing prices for oil, gas and food for months. Now, after the Category 4 hurricane wreaked havoc across the state of Florida, some fear that prices will go even higher.
However, as far as oil and gas prices go, President Biden issued a stern warning to companies last week. “Do not, let me repeat, do not use this as an excuse to raise gasoline prices or gouge the American people,” he said.
Industry Analysts put US citizens’ worries to rest when they told ABC NEWS that people should not worry about price increases for gas because of Hurricane Ian. The storm, thankfully, missed key oil-producing states such as Texas and Louisiana.
President of Lipow Oil Associates, Andy Lipow, even told ABC News, “I don’t think it’ll have any impact at all.”
Analysts say the storm will also not cause widespread food price hikes either since Florida is not a major producer of food, aside from citrus fruits. The extent of damage is still not yet known, so there is a possibility that citrus fruits exported from Florida could receive a price hike.
