Former Twitter employees have filed a lawsuit against the social media company alleging wrongful termination after Elon Musk took over and issued mass layoffs.
Last week, a group of employees decided to speak out, claiming that the layoffs have “triggered multiple labor rights violations,” according to CNN.
All four lawsuits that were filed against Twitter are seeking class-action status and allege that “Twitter reneged on promises to allow remote work and consistent severance benefits after the Musk acquisition, as well as complaints related to alleged disability and gender-based discrimination,” CNN reported.
The group of employees filing the suits claim that Musk simply did not uphold the promises he made on behalf of the company before his acquisition.
“The suit alleges that employees were assured they could continue to work remotely for at least a year following the acquisition and were promised that any workers laid off under Musk would receive the same benefits and severance that employees had been entitled to prior to the takeover,” per CNN.
