Starbucks has introduced a new item as part of its winter menu while cold drink popularity increases.
On Tuesday, the Pistachio Cream cold Brew was unveiled. According to Starbucks’ website, the drink is described as, “Starbucks® signature cold brew sweetened with vanilla syrup, topped with a silky, pistachio cream cold foam and finished with salted brown-buttery sprinkles for a sweet treat to start up any winter day.”
The decision to add yet another cold beverage option to the menu is part of the company’s plan to lean into the intense demand for iced drinks.
According to Starbucks executive, Michelle Burns, two-thirds of beverages served in the U.S. are cold.
Rachel Ruggeri, Starbucks’ CFO, told Yahoo Finance, that future growth for the company will rely on customization. The goal is to create more premium offerings while allowing customers the “opportunity to personalize drinks.”
