Apple has reportedly started taking attendance to ensure its employees are commuting to the office at least three days a week.
Zoë Schiffer, the managing editor of the Platformer tech blog, tweeted that, based on an unnamed source, Apple would be tracking employees’ attendance using bandage sign in records to see if they are coming into the office.
Apple has been trying to return to the office after the pandemic, much like other companies, but not without reported pushback. Back in August, some Apple employees launched a petition claiming the mandatory return to the office three days a week could be damaging to their well-being, according to NBC.
Apple has also made news recently with reports of potential cost-cutting measures being put into place. Apple Insider reported, “While the company isn’t targeting mass layoffs similar to Facebook, it is leaving positions open after an employee departs.”
What is ahead for Apple’s employees is to be determined.
