Amazon Launches RxPass, a New Prescription Drug Service
On Tuesday, Amazon launched a new prescription drug program for Prime members that offers unlimited prescriptions for $5 a month.
Sounds crazy, right?
According to Amazon, “There are no hidden fees and no markups to the $5 per month subscription.”
“RxPass is a benefit for Prime members that gives subscribers access to the most common generic medications for a flat fee of $5 a month. Subscribers can get all their prescribed medications on the RxPass list filled as often as they need for one flat monthly fee,” the company’s website states.
Additionally, RxPass allows auto-refills so customers can get their prescriptions automatically delivered included in the $5/month fee.
More than 50 generic medications are included with RxPass such as anti-inflammatory, antibiotic and blood pressure-controlling drugs.
This is not Amazon’s first attempt to take on the healthcare market. In 2020, the company launched Amazon Pharmacy and later introduced a virtual healthcare clinic.
Amazon claims RxPass is designed to benefit customers who take multiple prescriptions to manage chronic illnesses and are paying more than $5 a month.
RxPass is available to send medications to all states except California, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington.
