If you hate the stress of flying and the time wasted going through security and waiting on layovers, then a Southern California startup might have a solution.
Dreamstar Lines Inc. is introducing a “hotel train” that would take passengers from a city center or suburban train station and deliver them to their destination while they slept.
“A “short haul” flight is anything but — when you consider the time lost to check-in, security, and travel to and from remote airports. On a deluxe sleeper train, you spend fewer waking hours traveling than you would flying…and you don’t arrive feeling like you’ve already had a full day’s work,” the train service explains on its website.
Tickets would be priced at $300 to $1,000, according to Fox Business, with the goal to offer cheaper prices than Amtrak.
Although Dreamstar’s website states service is expected to begin in late 2023, the company’s founder, Tom Eastmond, told SFGate service is more likely to start in summer 2024, per Fox Business.
