Last week, General Motors announced that the company would be putting a hold on its driverless car project.
The announcement came after California revoked GM’s permit to test and operate driverless vehicles on state roads.
GM’s self-driving vehicle technology subsidiary, Cruise, recently made headlines when a pedestrian was trapped and dragged by one of its vehicles after being struck by an initial hit-and-run driver.
The California DMV said that Cruise is withholding video and information about the crash and this has impacted the state’s decision to revoke GM’s license.
There has been much controversy surrounding driverless vehicles including reports of abruptly halting and blocking intersections causing major traffic jams.
Additionally, CNN reported, “The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced it has launched an investigation into the safety of its driverless vehicles around pedestrians.
