McDonald’s is Being Sued Once Again After Customer Injury

McDonald’s is being sued once again after a customer was injured from the temperature of a product.

One of the fast food chain’s locations in San Francisco is being accused of serving a dangerously hot cup of coffee with an improperly attached lid to Mable Childress, a McDonald’s customer.

The temperature of the coffee mixed with the improperly placed lid led to Childress obtaining “severe burns” after the coffee spilled while she tried to drink it. In a lawsuit filed last week, Childress is allegedly suffering from “physical pains, emotional distress and other damages.”

The lawsuit named the restaurant’s negligence as a “substantial factor” for Childress’ injuries. Also, stated in the lawsuit, Childress claimed the restaurant employees refused to help her, despite McDonald’s denial to this claim.

The owner of the McDonald’s franchise, Peter Ou, explained to CNN in a statement that the company is “reviewing this new legal claim in detail.”

Earlier this year McDonald’s was also part of a civil lawsuit when a toddler was burned by hot chicken nuggets. A Florida jury awarded the toddler’s family $800,000 for injuries and damages.
