On Wednesday, Elon Musk debuted his brand new company, xAI. The goal of the company is to “understand the true nature of the universe,” according to its website.
The website also states that people will be able to meet the team as well as ask questions on Friday during a Twitter Spaces chat. The team is made up of alumni from DeepMind, OpenAI, Google Research, Microsoft Research, Twitter and Tesla that have worked on projects including DeepMind’s AlphaCode and OpenAI’s GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 chatbots, CNBC reported.
Dan Hendrycks is listed as the company’s advisor. He currently serves as the director of the Center for AI Safety.
Musk has a history in the AI industry as a co-founder of OpenAI in 2015. Three years later he walked away to avoid a conflict of interest with Tesla.
There is still a lot we do not know about xAI, but hopefully more details will be uncovered soon.
