Pepsi is doing something they have never done before this Fourth of July, a condiment.
This new concept, called “Pepsi Colachup” is a sauce that is actually infused with Pepsi and was developed with the Culinary Institute of America. The senior director at Pepsi, Jenny Danzi, said the sauce was created to “craft a revolutionary new type of condiment enhanced with the rich caramel notes and citrusy pop of Pepsi-Cola.”
Danzi detailed the process of making the sauce to CNN. “Beginning with a Pepsi reduction, the sauce is infused with a variety of ingredients such as smoked tomatoes; a blend of spices including cinnamon, thyme, oregano and paprika; plus onions and ketchup.” The result is sauce that has the “sweet, citrusy taste” of a Pepsi.
The sauce will only be available on the Fourth of July at four U.S. ballparks: Chase Field in Phoenix, Yankee Stadium in the Bronx in New York City, Target Field in Minneapolis and Comerica Park in Detroit, per CNN.
