Customers in New York City will now be able to get a pizza delivered underground as part of a limited-time promotion for the new “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.
Pizza Hut teamed up with Paramount Pictures, Nickelodeon Movies and Point Grey Productions in honor of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” hitting theaters nationwide on August 2.
“We wanted to pay homage to the Turtles’ origins and their love of pizza, while also infusing modern touchpoints and a fun, creative take on pizza deliveries,” said Pizza Hut’s chief marketing officer, Lindsay Morgan in a press release.
Individuals in Manhattan were able to text the turtle emoji to a specific number which placed an order for a Pizza Hut pizza. Customers were then hand-delivered the pizza to the designated “Pizza Drop Zone” within the subway station.
The underground delivery location represents the fictional home of the crime-fighting turtles’ home within New York City’s sewer system.
