Top Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, claims Apple will be slowing the pace of iPad releases for the rest of the year with something bigger on the horizon: a foldable iPad.
“I’m positive about the foldable iPad in 2024 and expect this new model will boost shipments and improve the product mix,” Kuo wrote in a series of tweets posted on Monday.
Although other manufacturers make foldable devices, like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4, Apple has yet to take a stab at the trend. The benefits of folding devices include being able to enjoy a large screen in a compact form and being lightweight and portable among other things, according to Samsung’s website.
According to Kuo, the anticipated Apple foldable iPad will feature a kickstand made of carbon fiber making the device “lighter and more durable.”
“Kuo is one of the most prolific and respected Apple analysts. The analyst has predicted multiple details on the iPhone SE 3, the 2021 MacBook Pro, and numerous iPad releases that have been substantiated at launch,” per CNBC. He is described as one of the most accurate sources of pre-released information with contacts in Apple’s Asian supply chain.
